A beloved local WWII veteran left us on Veterans Day. Harry Weathers, a fixture in Elnora, Indiana, for all of his nearly 97 years, passed away at Parkview Village Christian Care in Odon on November 11, 2021, after participating in their Veterans Day program.
Harry was born on December 9, 1924, in Elnora, to Clarence and Myrtle (Ketchem) Weathers. He was the fifth of their six children, and their only son. He was inducted into the US Army in March 1943, served with the 772nd Tank Destroyer Battalion, and was honorably discharged in June 1945. He then went to work at NAD Crane and retired as supervisor of the Transportation Department in 1986. Harry met his future bride, Margaret “Peg” Selba while both were working at Crane. They married on November 10, 1947 and enjoyed over 60 years of marriage until Peg’s death in 2008.
Harry would tell you he was blessed with a great life, long and full. He loved his twin girls with his whole heart and never stopped missing his wife, Peg.
