You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You’ll never know, dear how much I love you. Please, don’t take my sunshine away. Harriet A. Bennett (nee Reven) was clothed in strength and dignity. She laughed without fear of hard work and remained bright, sunny, and strong-willed. There are days, however, when even hope bows her weary sunlit head. That was the last day of November, just after the sun had set. Harriet had passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the lover of her family at the age of 79.
Mrs. Bennett was born in Camden and had been rooted as a “Holy City” neighbor, raising her large family in Gloucester City for many years. She worked as a housekeeper tending to the Gloucester City Inn, becoming the Days Inn, in Gloucester City. At home, she enjoyed crocheting and had been a member of the Gloucester City Library Crocheting Club.
The sunflower will always face the sun and leave the shadows behind. Mrs. Bennett’s warm afterglow is filled with her children; Robin Rickards, Robert H. Bennett, Jr., Raymond Bennett, Peggy & her husband Robert Greene, James Bennett, John Bennett, and the baby Deborah Bennett. Harriett is the proud grandmother of 9 and great-grandmother of 3. She is also survived and will sadly be missed by her siblings; Florence Thompson, Horace Reven, and Walter Reven. Harriet was predeceased by her husband Robert Herbert Bennett Sr. as well as her siblings; William J, Reven, Jr., Mildred Baresicano, Francis Kline, and Anna Reven.
