Harold William Barber, Sr. began his life story on March 25, 1944. He was born to the late Joe and Fannie Barber, who were residents of Meriwether County, Georgia. Harold spent most of his working life as an employee of The Bonnell Company. His great affection, though, was his association with the good Earth and his land he loved in Luthersville. His most rewarding times were spent in working the land as a farmer, hunting and fishing. A natural tinkerer, he loved the challenge of anything mechanical that needed his special attention with the end result always being a smooth-running engine. Harold was a loyal member of his Masonic Lodge, Bigham #53 in Moreland. He was in line for his recognition for 50 years of service to that group.

Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Avis Calhoun Barber, and his son William (Billy) Barber, Jr., and his wife Barbara. Also surviving are his siblings Patricia Barber Freeman, James Barber and Jimmy Barber. His extended family includes two generations of nieces and nephews.
