Harold W. Davis, 79, of Jacksonville, went to be with his Father in Heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.

He was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Jacksonville, the son of Henry James and Lydia Azalea Everman Davis. He married Lillian K. “Pat” Buster on Jan. 23, 1953, in Jacksonville and she preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 2009.

He is survived by his daughter, Pam (Ken) Devlin of Jacksonville; son Kevin (Kathy) Davis of Springfield; five grandchildren. Stephanie (Mike) Griffitts of Jacksonville, Steven Hilligoss (companion Simone Springsted) of Lonsdale, MN, Brian (Stacey) Hilligoss of Council Bluffs, IA, Joshua (Dani) Davis of St. Louis, MO, and Amanda (Lucas) Jockisch of Chatham; three great-grandchildren, Ali Davis Jockisch, Madalyn Hilligoss and Fletcher Davis; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Allen, Elsie Mae Roach, Alta Watson and Violet Beard (surviving husband Robert of Jacksonville); and two brothers, George W. Davis and Robert Henry Davis.

Mr. Davis was a member of Jacksonville High School Class of 1952. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1974, after a 21 year career, serving in both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars. Following his retirement, he enjoyed driving a school bus for Jacksonville School District #117, and mowing the yards of his neighbors. He was a member of First Christian Church. Harold enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas time for his family and friends. He always said the greatest investment he ever made was in his family.
