Harold Troy Phillips
March 18, 1962 – April 18, 2023
Troy Phillips, aged 61, of Eastover, SC, is now with his Lord and Savior.
Troy was born in Columbia, SC to Harold F. Phillips and Margaret Sox Phillips.
He was a graduate of Airport High School’s Class of 1980.
He excelled in football and wrestling and is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame. Troy earned a full football scholarship to Furman University, where he played in four consecutive Southern Conference Championships: 1980, 1981, 1982, and 1983. He was a two time All Southern Conference Defensive Lineman, with 202 Career Tackles, 37 Tackles for Loss, 5 Fumble Recovery, and 3 Sacks.
After graduating, he continued his education at the United States Sports Academy in Mobile, AL, with a Masters in Sports Science. He also earned a second Masters in Education from Winthrop University.
Troy coached football and wrestling at Airport High School, before moving to Sumter, where he coached football and wrestling, too, earning two State Championships, one in 1987 and one in 1990.
Troy later coached football and retired as a middle school principal of Bamberg Ehrhardt (for one day).
Troy worked alongside his wife of 39 years, Cheryl Hallman Phillips, and his son, Christopher Troy Phillips of West Columbia, in the family owned business of Columbia Flooring, Inc.
Troy loved his family, sports, and gardening, and he also loved to cruise. With 40 plus cruises, he traveled from Alaska, to the Caribbean, to the Holy Land of Israel.
Troy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Fletcher and Annie Mae Phillips, and GC and Lucille Sox.
He is survived by his brother Keith (Janet) Phillips of West Columbia, sister Kelly (Mike) Stewart of Lexington

He leaves behind his Nieces and Nephews:

As well as his Great Nieces and Nephews:
Austin, Grant Smith, Lillie and Adalynn Blume, Conner Blume, Tanner Shumpert and Brooke Elkin.
He also leaves behind his special pets of the home, Hambo and Piglet.
