Harold Sundet, age 95, of Algona passed away on Monday , anuary 29, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Algona.  Harold Clinton Sundet, the son of Leander and Nora (Nelson) Sundet, was born on March 22, 1922 in Spring Grove, Minnesota. Harold’s father passed away when he was 6 and he began working at 14 on an area farm. He later worked in North Dakota with the wheat harvest. He later moved to Ottosen where he farmed, trucked, and met the love of his life, Bertha Longseth. Harold then moved to St. Paul, where Bertha was working, and he worked for DuPont Ordinance. He then joined the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII with two tours overseas with the first one in the Pacific Theater. On October 6, 1944 Harold was united in marriage with Bertha Lucille Longseth in St. Paul, MN.

They moved to Algona in 1949 and Harold operated a State Farm Insurance Agency until 1964 when he and Bertha established the Sundet Insurance Agency which he operated until 1988. They moved to Arizona, where he became active in Real Estate and then to Arkansas for 6 years where they were active in church work. Harold and Bertha returned to Algona in 2000 and Harold was active again in Real Estate. Harold had been a member of First Lutheran Church where he held numerous offices. He was also a 50 year member of Prudence Lodge #205 AF & AM, 50 year member of Abu Bekhr Temple of Sioux City, a member of the Consistory of Sioux City, Kossuth Shrine Club, Golden K Kiwanis of Algona and a life member of the VFW Post #2541 of Algona.

Harold enjoyed his church, fishing and family at the cabin in Mille Lacs Lake, MN. Left to cherish Harold’s memory are his children, Sharon Omdahl and her husband Howard, and Bruce Sundet and his wife Marcia all of Algona; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and a brother, Leland Sundet of Excelsior, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha in 2012; and a sister, Delores Besse.
