Harold R. “Hal” Arnold, 85, passed away on June 3, 2011 in Boise. Harold was born in Nampa, ID to Olen T. and Lulu Arnold on August 15, 1925. He attended schools in Nampa, ID and Stockton, CA. Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Following his Honorable Discharge from the Army, he returned to finish his courtship of Ellen Evans in Boise.
Harold and Ellen were married on August 2, 1947. Harold worked for many years at Salt Lake Hardware, then with Harris Brother’s Lumber Company, Rostock Furniture and Appliance, Simplot, Amalgamated Sugar, and eventually moving in 1967 to Albion, ID where the family purchased and ran the AA Mart. While living in Albion Harold served on the Board of Trustees for Magic Valley Christian College.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy, a brother Glenn, and a sister Doris. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Ellen of Boise, ID; a brother, Arnie (Willa) of Prescott, AZ; his children, Nancy (Jim) Fennell of Caldwell, ID, Larry (Deborah) Arnold of Kansas City, MO, Roger (Connie) Arnold of Salem, OR, and Ann (Paul) Reasch of Jerome, ID; a foster daughter, Sheila Rae Bragg of Portland, OR; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 21 foster kids.
