Harold is survived by his sister, Martha (Rasmus) McCormick and brother-in-law Kenneth C. McCormick of Lucas, Iowa.
Harold immensely enjoyed teasing his nieces Connie (Leon) Ehlers of Lucas, Iowa; Carol McCormick of Bentonville, Arkansas; and Carla (Guy) Hausrath of Plattsburgh, New York.
Harold’s early school years were spent at the Meyers country school in Benton Township of Lucas County.
When weather allowed he rode his pony, Tommy, to school.
Harold graduated from Chariton High School in 1937.
He and Kenneth were in the same class.
They frequently reminisced about their high school days.
Harold was a farmer and raised turkeys and cattle.
Harold lived on the farm for over 50 years.
On July 10, 1981 Harold married Genevieve (Gen) Lockridge.
After a few years on the farm, they moved to Russell.
In 2006 Harold and Gen moved to the Chariton Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
