Harold R. Stortz, age 94 of Midland, died Thursday December 20, 2012 at MidMichigan Medical Center. The son of the late Martin and Elsie (Rogers) Stortz was born in Holland, New York on August 10, 1918.
Harold was a logger for over 50 years and was involved in many logging expeditions. He then was a maintenance worker for an apartment complex and had worked untill the age of 80. He enjoyed working in his flower garden, building things for family members, playing cards with his family, puzzles and being outdoors. Harold was married to the former Eva Robinson. She died in 1969. He then became friends with Ethel Robinson who was his companion for over 25 years, until her death in 1996.
Surviving are his children, Joyce Ensell of Olean, New York , Carol (George) Wheeler of Clarksville, Tennessee, Nancy Stortz of Dumas, Texas, Philip (Kathy) Stortz of Sanford, Robert (Kathleen) Stortz of Hope, Deborah (Don) Messersmith of Midland, Janet (Mike) Allen of Midland, Barry Robinson of Midland ; 25 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and Ethel’s family of whom he cared and loved like his own. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a grandson, Ronald Stortz; many brothers and sisters.
