Harold L. McArtor, 86, of Bloomington passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital. Born, December 11, 1924 in Lyons, Indiana he was the son of Homer and Dica (Carr) McArtor. Harold was a proud Navy Veteran of the Seventh Fleet serving in the South Pacific during WWII, where he had earned a silver star, victory medals, a distinguished service cross and many other honors.

He was a member of the Garrison Chapel United Methodist Church where he attended faithfully for over 50 years, serving in various positions including Deacon, Treasurer & Sunday School teacher. For the past 10 years Harold had enjoyed fellowship in the Bloomington Seventh-day Adventist Church where he attended with his son, daughter-in-law & their children. After 38 years of employment with R.C.A., Harold took early retirement from his position of materials expeditor.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 604. Harold was a loving father and involved grandfather who loved most being with his family for shared activities like traveling, cooking out & attending his grandson’s baseball games to name just a few. Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca L. Curry (Mike) of Bloomington, one son, Thomas D. McArtor (Sharon) of Solsberry, eight grandchildren, Carey L. Curry (Bryant) of Bloomington, Ryan M. Curry (Heather) of Ellettsville, Christy A. Morrow of Bloomington, Shannon M. Johnson (Kevin) of Hendersonville, NC, Katie N. McArtor of Solsberry, Adam C. Williams of Bloomington, Dillon R. Williams of Bloomington & Eric L. McArtor of Solsberry.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Norma Rose (Adkins) McArtor (1998), one daughter, Diana Williams (2003), one granddaughter, Brooke M. Curry-Deckard (2010), one great-granddaughter, Morgan Rose Deckard (2010), two brothers, Donald and John McArtor and an infant sister.
