Harold “Marvin” Edens, 75, of Peru, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at his home. Marvin was born October 14, 1945 in Streator to Harold and Helen (Loser) Edens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1965-1967 and was in Vietnam from 1966-1967.
He married Kathy Ellen Harris on November 14, 1969 at Hennepin United Methodist Church.Marvin worked as a union truck driver for Hiram Walker, McNeill Asphalt Co. and retired from Advanced Asphalt. He was a member of Teamsters Local 627 in Peoria. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, LaSalle, the Masonic Lodge and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Peru.
He was a volunteer at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle. Marvin owned and raised several racehorses and was involved in harness racing in Chicago. He also loved the Fighting Illinois basketball team.The family extends their appreciation and gratitude to St. Margaret’s Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Marvin and their family.Survivors include his wife, Kathy; three children, Greg (Rachel) Edens of Princeton, Kevin Edens of Flanagan and Ann (Joe) Hoffmann of Ottawa and five grandchildren, Brandon and Kylie Edens and Brennan, Kora and Aubry J. Edens.He was preceded in death by his parents.
