Harold L. Tarvin, 83, Anderson, died August 31, 2008 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus-Anderson after an extended illness. He was born September 30, 1924 in Davies County, Indiana.

Harold served his country with the United States Marines during WWII and the Korean conflict. He retired in 1982 after 28 years of service, from Delco Remy where he was a general supervisor in the Engineering Department.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge, American Legion, Madison County Shrine Club, a lifetime member of Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #209, and a lifetime member of 1st Marine Division Association. He served in the Pacific Theatre and participated in the assault and capture of Guadal canal, East New Guinea, New Britain and Pelalu. He was wounded two times and erroneously reported killed in action.

Survivors include his son, Bruce F. Tarvin and friend, Judy Delaney of Anderson; daughters, Gail C. & husband, Jim Chamley of Colorado Springs, CO and Martha Jill Tarvin of Florissant, CO; sister, Hildred L. Perry of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and severa nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Rowe Tarvin on October 8, 2002; and his parents, Forrest H. and Essie G. Spradley Tarvin.
