Harold J. “Hal” Bleyhl

July 16, 1923 – November 2, 2014

Hal was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was a man who was loved by many.

Hal was born in Norfolk, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska. He “skippered” two ships; an LCI during WWII and an LST during the Korean War. He was in the Naval Reserves for 15 years after he served in the Military.

Hal married Florence Marie Halvorsen on July 28, 1946. They raised four daughters; Janet, Sharon, Marilyn and Nancy. They have 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. When Florence passed away on September 24, 2009 Hal met Pat Hunt and they were married on April 24, 2010.

Hal’s career started as a Teacher of Vocational Agriculture. He later joined the Ralston Purina Company which led him to be moved and promoted as the Regional Manager of seven Northwest States. In 1973 he joined the State Farm Insurance Company as an agent in Portland, Oregon. He then became a Manager for the company until his retirement at the age of 66.

The love of his boat and the ocean led him to move to Anacortes, Washington in 2000. Four years later he moved to Boise, Idaho where he enjoyed hunting and fishing and white water rafting in the great outdoors.

Hal loved God, Country, and his Family. He was a loyal patriot and a wonderful patriarch to his loved ones.
