Harold Gene Winters, 81, of Freeport, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Born June 27, 1931 in Freeport he was the son of Merle and Henrietta (Sager) Winters.
He served four years in the United States Air Force. On August 27, 1955 he and Marlene Lender were united in marriage. Harold loved singing karaoke, playing softball as a pitcher, was a member of the Freeport Moose Lodge and Freeport Eagles Club.
Surviving is his wife, Marlene of Freeport; four children Ronald Winters, Todd (Jill) Winters, Kimberly (Mike) Squires, Lori (Marc) Wims; nine grandchildren Nicole Mathews, Kristina Rice, Grant Winters, Amanda Winters, Justin Winters, Hanna Winters Ashley Anacker, Taylor Wims, Xander Wims; 13 great grandchildren Jesse, Griffin, Isabela, Gabriel, Aaron, Ava, Gaige Alana, Lilah, Sondra, Sophia, Roslyn and Scarlet; four sisters Betty Miller, Lucille Miller, Donna Mae Pichard, June Bentley; brother-in-law Ronald Lender.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Henrietta, son Scott, granddaughter Noelle Winters, brother Robert Winters and five brothers-in-law.
