Harold Gene Brown, 85, died November 24, 2010 at St. Francis North Hospital-Monroe, Louisiana. He was a former Anderson resident and recently 35 years in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1943, and was a graduate of Pre-Apprentice School of Tool and Die Makers. Harold married Velda Jane Hayes Brown in 1949. For nine years, he worked at Force Tool and Die in Anderson. He served 9 years with the U.S. Navy serving in World War II, and the Korean Conflict with one year of duty in Kodiak, Alaska.

Mr. Brown worked 19 years at the Guide General Motors Plant in Anderson and 8 years in Monroe, Louisiana at the Guide Plant after moving to Monroe in 1974. He served in various positions as a Monroe Buyer and General Supervisor over Maintenance before retiring in 1982 in Monroe, Louisiana. Since his retirement, he enjoyed motor home traveling to the 50 states. He was a member of the Good Sam Organization for the past 25 years and has attended over 75 Samborees in the various states.

Mr. Brown was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monroe, a 50 year member of the Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681 F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis; VFW, and American Legion Post #13 in Monroe. He worked for 12 years at North Monroe Hospital with the Auxilary Volunteer Services. His parents, Harvey and Erma Brown; two brothers, Glen Brown and Floyd Brown; one sister, Vera Brown; and a sister-in-law, Norma Rockwell, preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of sixty-one years, Janie Brown; daughter, Denise Whalon & husband Mike of Lee�s Summit, Missouri; sons, Garry Brown and wife Brenda of Brownsville, Kentucky and Brian Brown and wife Shawn of Monroe, Louisiana; ten grandchildren, Todd Whalon and wife Kristine, Trent Whalon and wife Rose, Brandy Trotter and husband Tom, Breck Jackson and husband Tony, Bryce Brown, Katie Whalon, Joe Whalon, Blake Brown, Cory Brown, and Tiffany Brown; three great grandson, Alex Whalon, Carter Whalon, and Reis Jackson; sister-in-law, Janet Huntzinger and husband Larry of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; nieces, Pat Harrington, Barbara Trueblood, and Carol Tiney; and nephew, Harvey Brown.
