Harold E.  Crayton, son of the late Irene Johnson and David Crayton, entered this world on October 6, 1937 in Decatur, Alabama.  He departed this life on May 13, 2013 in Huntsville, Alabama. His maternal great grandmother, Janet Floyd reared him in the love of God and impressed upon him to share that love with others.

His formative years taught him the meaning of love and caring for others.  His early educational training at Cherry Street Elementary and Lakeside High Schools prepared him for life at Alabama A&M and beyond.

His career path as a brick mason afforded him a comfortable and meaningful lifestyle that would impact the lives of many. He gave his life to God at an early age and was a dedicated and committed member of King’s Memorial United Methodist Church until he joined Bridge Builders Church International in May of 2002.

In addition to his parents and great grandmother, his great aunt, Janet Floyd Tabscott, and granddaughter, Dalesia Inette Crayton, also preceded him in death.

His survivors include his wife, Jeanette Della Stewart Crayton, his son and daughter-in-law, Darius and Alesia Crayton all of Decatur, Four grandchildren, Darius Antoine, Andrea Linzie, Valesia Denise and David Jedidiah Crayton, a brother, Leon (Joan) Crayton of Hillsboro, three sisters-in-law, Margret Stewart of Decatur, Gracie Stewart of Rockledge, Florida, and Bernice (Dwight) Allen of Louisville, Kentucky, three nephews, Maurice, Audley and Randy Crayton and a host of other relatives and friends.

At the end of life, there will be only four things that will matter.

1.) Did you have a relationship with God?

2.) Did you have a mate that loved you?

3.) Did you have a child or children that honored and respected you?

4.) Were you ever able to minister and show the love of God to others?

We are all proud to say that “Yes” is the answer to all four questions that pertain to the life of Harold E. Crayton, a man who lived and loved life to the fullest.
