Harold E. Stewart, Jr., 81, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born June 30, 1937, in Centralia, the son of Harold E. Stewart, Sr., Ruby (Swartzlander) Stewart Zimmerman, and his stepfather: Harry Zimmerman. He married Judy Wooden on January 27, 1962, at the Hickory Street Christian Church and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Judy Stewart of Centralia, he is also survived by a daughter: Debbie Petrea of Centralia; three grandsons: Jason Petrea, Jared Petrea and Justin Petrea; a niece: Chris of Springfield and a nephew: Brett of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather: Harry Zimmerman and a sister, Delores Nardi. Harold was the past Chief of Police for Wamac for 30 plus years. He also served as the Superintendent of the Street Department for the City of Wamac. He enjoyed woodworking, going to stock car races and fishing with his grandsons. Harold loved spending time with his family and friends.
