Harold Edward Otto Buchholz, 92, of rural Table Rock, passed away April 12, 2014 at Belle Terrace in Tecumseh, NE. He was born to Henry and Louise (Sodman) Buchholz on Feb. 8, 1922 on the family farm near Table Rock, NE. He was one of three children. Harold was baptized March 5, 1922 and confirmed Nov. 1, 1936 at the St. James Lutheran (Long Branch) Church, rural Humboldt, NE. Harold received his education at Pleasant Hill District #13 through the eighth grade.
He was united in marriage to Lela Koehler on April 20, 1944 at St. James Lutheran (Long Branch). To this union three children were born, Janice, Milton and Karen. After their marriage they lived on the same farm where he was born.
Harold was a lifetime member of St. James where he was active in Luther League and served on the church council numerous times. Harold also served on the Elk Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Elk Creek School Board. Harold was a farmer all his life. He was always very compassionate to animals and very interested in wildlife conservation. In his later years he said he felt the best while driving his tractor in the field. He also loved to hunt and took great pride in his gun collection. Harold enjoyed going to family birthday parties, playing cards and the great outdoors on the farm. He especially enjoyed being with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Lela, of rural Table Rock, children, Janice Price and husband Del of Curtis, Milton Buchholz of Elk Creek and Karen Smith and husband Brian of Auburn, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michelle Axelson and husband Lennie and daughter Kelsie, Jennifer Newcomb and husband William and son Lucas, Melissa Breazile, Nicole Rogers and husband Stephen, Damian Cooper and wife Elise and their children, Olivia, Xavier and Wesley, Shaun Smith and wife Courtney and children Kristina and Katelyn, Ashley Mitchell and husband Zach and children Joshua and Leila and Megan McGrath and husband Rodney and children, Abigail, Owen and Maverick, sister-in-law, Elma Lee Buchholz and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Wilber Buchholz, sister, Verna Ahntholz, sister-in-law, Luella Buchholz and brother-in-law, Otto Ahntholz.
