The son of the late Theodore V. “Buster” Chaney and Verna Jewel Cummings Chaney, Dean was born June 28, 1942 in Los Angeles, California and passed away March 25 in Ardmore.
Dean had worked for the City of Ardmore from 1974 to 1986 as a customer service representative and a meter reader. He moved back to California in 1986 and worked for the City of Hesperia water department reading meters retiring in 1995. He had also worked for a while with Georgia Pacific.
Returning to Ardmore in 1995, Dean enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was of the Baptist faith.
Dean is survived by his wife Flora L. Canada Bray, brother Leo Chaney, nephews, Ed Spears, Alan, Dennis and Don Chaney and J.R. Speer; nieces Patty Baker, Kathy Porter, Charleen Green, TyeAnn Bjork; Karen Danielsen and Cheryl Beaver as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and other family. Besides his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Jo Speer and Vida Lou Reis, his brother Dale Chaney, nephews Merle Spears and Ron Chaney, and nieces Susan Jobe and Pamela Brace.
Honorary bearers will be Alan Chaney, Dennis Chaney, Ed Spears, Robin Porter and Richard Green.
