Harold Coleman Watson, 91, of Salisbury, passed away December 7, 2011 at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born February 2, 1920 in Meridian, MS, he was the son of the late Lillie Mae Cling Watson and Jesse Everette Watson.

Mr. Watson was a graduate of Spencer High School, Class of 1938.

A veteran of the United States Navy, he served during World War II. A Chief Machinist Mate aboard the USS Boxer Aircraft Carrier, he served in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Spencer Moose Lodge.

Preceding him in death were his wife Rebecca Holt Watson, whom he married August 18, 1948, and who passed away June 7, 1998; sister Mildred Flynn; brothers, James Watson and Bernard Watson; and twin great-grandsons, Cohan Bernard Hoffman and Gavin Todd Hoffman.

Survivors include his daughter Christie Hoffman (Jerry) of Granite Quarry; brother Robert Watson of Decatur, GA; sister Ruth Boone of Spencer; two grandsons, Brian Coleman Hoffman of St. Petersburg, FL and Neil Bernard Hoffman (Melissa) of Wilmington.
