Harold B. Sheeley, 91, of Galien, Michigan, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 2, 2008 at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph, Michigan surrounded by his loving daughters who cherished him greatly. Harold was born January 15, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minn, the son of Robert and Ruth (Swank) Sheeley.

On December 2, 1939 he married Jane C. Daniels in St. Joseph. He loved to collect artifacts, coins and antiques. He also enjoyed metal detecting and mushroom hunting. He was an avid hunter and, in the fall, would gather and crack walnuts to give to friends and family. He was a member of Moose Lodge # 449 of Buchanan and a member of the Galien Village Council for many years.

He retired from Clark Equipment Company in 1976 after 32 years of service.. Harold and Jane spent their summers at Lake of the Woods in Decatur, Michigan and wintered in Winter Haven, Florida for more than 30 years. His daughters adored him. Harold was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by his four daughters, Donna (Ken) Kelly, Granger, IN; Diane (Jack) Payne Galien; Sharon (Allen) Trapp, Galien and Connie (Dick) Rubeck, Three Oaks, MI 10 grandchildren, Ron (Donna Rae) Kelly, Vicki (Matt) Eckler, David (Kim)Kelly, Lisa Payne, Dawn (David) Mitchell, Rick (Kitty) Heckathorn, Robyn (Kenny) Wicker, Lisa (Zven)Verlinden, Joe Trapp, Kristin (Mike) Baker; 18 great grandchildren, his sisters; Dorothy Dillard of Three Oaks, Michigan and Lois Kool of St. Petersburg, Florida, many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jane Sheeley, three sisters, Carmen Anderson, Rosalie Zavor and Shirley DeFreeze and two brothers Rex Sheeley and Zane Sheeley.
