Harold William Ahlmann Jr. was born January 10, 1948 to Harold and Dora (Miller) Ahlmann in Norfolk, NE. He was baptized & confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Harry graduated from Norfolk Senior High School in 1966. He excelled in many sports in high school and was crowned Sports Royalty King in his senior year. Harry graduated from UNL in 1971 with a Bachelors Degree in Education.

Following graduation, he worked a variety of jobs: Psychiatric Technician at the Regional Center in Lincoln in the adolescent unit, a farmer, a substitute teacher at schools in Norfolk & the surrounding area, COE Cattle Company working with his father, a laboratory quality controller at Nucor, and as a manager and owner of Saras Lake. Harry also took great pride in helping many people break free from the control of various cults through his years as a deprogrammer.

On August 9, 1975, Harry married his best friend and soul mate Sara Johnson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. They were looking forward to celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary next month.

He is survived by his wife Sara, three children Adam (Stephanie), Britt (Brandon) Wrick, and Erik; three grandchildren, Courtney Catlett, Aureylia Kwan and Silas Harold; mother Dora; brother Dick Sydow – Broomfield, CO; two sisters Sharon Thompson and Barb (Ron) Forslund both of Norfolk; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Harold E..

Harry was a caring and generous man who helped others, even in death as an organ donor. He especially enjoyed working with the special needs students at the schools. His passion was planting thousands of trees and plants around Saras Lake to create a peaceful and beautiful area for people to enjoy. Harry was a loving husband, father & friend. As a devoted grandfather one of the highlights he treasured most was watching his grandkids. We would like everyone to remember Harry as sitting on his porch, enjoying a beautiful sunset, looking over the lake with his wife, Sara, and dog, Sam, in the place that he most loved.
