Harold Arthur “Art” Cramer of Pasadena, MD, passed away on July 19th, 2018, after a long illness. He was born November 21, 1925 in Chambersburg, PA, to the late Herbert and Lilian Cramer. He graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1943 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in the Battle of Okinawa, was stationed in China at the end of WWII, saw action in the Korean War, and retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service. He then worked for the Department of Defense for 30 years and proudly retired with more than 50 years of government service. His Marine Corps nickname of “Moose” followed him for the rest of his life. Art was the longtime Scoutmaster of Troop 873 and the founder of Troop 672, both in Glen Burnie. He proudly mentored more than a dozen Eagle Scouts during his tenure. He was a longtime active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Linthicum Heights, MD.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ann G. Cramer; sister, Priscilla and his brothers, William and Chalmers. He is survived by his son Harold, Jr. (Hal) and his wife Ann; beloved grandson, Justin Cramer and his wife, Kate; and his treasured great-granddaughter, Maya, all of Pasadena; and his dear sister, Zana Allison of Harrisburg, PA.
