Harmine Wibben Scheffner, of Forreston, a loving Mother, Grandma and Oma passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the age of 89. Born on July 23, 1924 in Campen, Germany she came to America at the age of four. She was the daughter of Martin and Gertie (Henning) Janshen.

On June 23, 1945 she married Robert “Bob” Scheffner at St John United Church of Christ in Freeport, IL. He died on June 13, 2003. For 64 years she was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, belonged to the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Quilting Club. Harmine and Bob farmed in the Stephenson County for 43 years. She was chosen Farm Wife of Silver Creek Township in 1984.

She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. When she would see her grandchildren or great grandchildren, you could see the love she had for them by her big smile. She loved drinking German tea and serving it to her family and friends, and conversing in German with her brother, sister, cousins and friends. She also enjoyed making bread and cookies, doing embroidery work, playing games, having a garden, and watching birds at her bird feeders.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Miller of Forreston, Bonita (Bill) Ross of Egan, and Marcie Scheffner of Phoenix, AZ; two sons, Randy (LuAnn) Scheffner of Baileyville, Rolland (Vicki) Scheffner of Leaf River; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer (Frank) Perez, Judd (Angie) Miller, Julie (Tim) Page, Krystle (Christopher) Posey, Ryan (Ashlee) Scheffner, Wade Scheffner, James (Heather) Tapp, Nathan Tapp, Addison Tapp, Benjamin (April) Scheffner, Mandy Scheffner, and Lucas Scheffner; 16 great grandchildren and a sister Mary Jean Harrenstein of German Valley.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, one son Jerry, her parents, a brother Joe Janshen, sister-in-law Helen Janshen, brother-in-law Marvin Harrenstein and son-in-law Wayne Miller.
