Harlin W. Gotschall, 76, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born Jan. 18, 1942, in Jacksonville, the son of Morris Sr. and Kathryn Phillips Gotschall. He married Sharon Smock and they later divorced.
He is survived by his son, Brian Gotschall of Jacksonville; three brothers, Morris (Carol) Gotschall Jr. of Hot Springs, AR, Russ (Mary) Gotschall of Chatham, and Phil (Lynn) Gotschall of Jacksonville; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Stephen (surviving wife Marcella of Springfield).
Mr. Gotschall was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He served as the Morgan County Sergeant for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. He was a troop Leader for Boy Scout Troop #111. Harlin especially enjoyed coaching his son, Brian, in youth baseball and football.
