Harlan Lee Fry, formerly of West Bend died November 10, 2010 at his home in Dixon, Illinois. Harlan Lee Fry, the son of Harvey and Corrine (Telford) Fry was born May 18, 1933 in Clear Lake,IA. Lee graduated from the West Bend consolidated school in 1952 where he was active in baseball and basketball. In the fall of 1952 Lee enlisted in the United States Air Force. He completed his basic training at Parks Air Force Base, CA, Tech school at Francis E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming where he was assigned for two years. He then spent one year each in Cape Lisbourne, Alaska and Duluth Memorial Airport, in Minnesota. After serving his country he attended South Dakota University in Vermillion, SD. He then attended and graduated from the Universal Trade School in Omaha, Ne, graduating in 1959. He then moved to Cherokee, Ia where he was employed by Modern Heating and Cooling Company. In 1966 Lee moved to Sterling, Ill, where he was employed at Lenox Heating and Cooling Company for thirty years before his retirement. After his retirement Lee was always first in line to volunteer his services to his church, the senior citizens center,his neighbors and anyone who may have needed help. Survivors include his siblings, Wayne L.(Bett) Fry of Las Vegas, NV, Donald K. Fry of Kimberling MO, LeRoy M. Worby of Humboldt, IA, and Corrine “Sis” Canon of Fort Dodge, IA. He is also survived by “Lee’s Harem” consisting of nieces, sister and sister in laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, William, Elmer and Joseph and his sister Virginia Gravenish.
