Harlan J. Kinney age 82 of Ashland, passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2021 in Lakeland Florida.
Harlan was born on December 25, 1938 in Woodsfield, Ohio to the late Harlan M. and Dorothy (Keysor) Kinney. Harlan grew up in Ashland and was a member of the Ashland High School Class of 1958.
After High School, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. After leaving the Marine Corps he was employed at the Flxible Company in Loudonville as a tool and die maker. In 1987 he and his wife Donna (Bowman) moved to Tampa, Florida where he established and enjoyed managing a small over-the-road trucking firm with a fleet of three trucks.
Harlan retired in 2004 and he and Donna returned to Ashland in 2009. He attended First Baptist Church in Ashland.
Surviving is his wife Donna; two sons Jeff (Sue) Kinney of Millersburg and Brian (Liz) Kinney of Shreve; two step sons, Jim (Lori) Schrack of Tulelake, California and Ron (Linda) Schrack of Joliet, Illinois; seven grandchildren and five great granddaughters also survive. He is also survived by two sisters, Judy (Emerson) Slater of Ashland, Bonnie (Jim) Strong of Russelville, Tennessee; and two brothers Gary (Cheryl) Kinney and Eugene Kinney both of Ashland.
Harlan’s infectious laugh and keen knowledge of traveling the United States will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
