Harlan Henry Neumann, born March 6, 1942, passed away January 17, 2020 surrounded by family at Good Samaritan Society-Manson.

Harlan grew up on a farm outside of Manson, attending country school before transferring to Manson High School where he graduated in 1961. He joined the Army National Guard in 1961 and served six months active duty and four years in the Guard. He married Claudia Chipman in April of 1962 and together they had five children. 

He worked as a Class-A welder for New Idea in Fort Dodge for ten years before becoming a trackman for Illinois Central Railroad/Canadian National Railroad, for thirty-one years. He retired in 2002. 

Harlan was a man of immeasurable strength and faith. His love of nature has been passed down to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by all those whose lives he touched.   

Harlan is survived by his wife of 57 years, Claudia Neumann; five children Connie (Rick) Nelson, Christine (Ron) Jesse, Michael (Jennifer) Neumann, Jody (Tony) Van Dyke, and Scott (Jeanine Flores) Neumann; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Gaylen (Sandi) Neumann and Merle Neumann;  sister, Marlene (Randy) Welander; brother-in-law, Timothy (Becky) Chipman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Dalton; parents, Harold and Luella Neumann; and brother-in-law Jady (Shirley) Chipman.
