Harlan Frederick Olson, Englewood, died Monday afternoon (April 26, 2010) at home while surrounded by his loving family. Harlan was born March 23rd, 1926 in Swedesburg, Nebraska. As the son of Fred and Esther (Polsley) Olson, he was the youngest of two children. Harlan was a cadet in the US Navy Air Corp. He married Alice Kimball on Nov. 6th, 1953 in Monterey Park, CA. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice; three sons: Todd (Becky) Olson of Denver, Scot Olson of Fort Collins and Ron (Georgie) Olson of Littleton; one daughter Lynda (Bob) Percival of Berthoud; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Harlan was an inventor at heart. He was always sketching out plans for the next big invention; his engineering mind drafting and planning. He loved planes and was a private pilot when he was a young man and enjoyed vegetable gardening. His tomato plants were the envy of the neighborhood. Harlan was a perfect example of independence and strength, characteristics that can be seen in his four children. He proudly watched as his children began families of their own. He adored his grandchildren, with whom he shared his love of baseball. He taught each of them to swing a bat. Always keeping an eye out for their safety, he watched them grow with a “quit the horseplay” ringing in their ears. None of his children or grandchildren will ever doubt this love shown through his desire to keep them safe. Harlan was preceded in death by his father, Fred Olson, and his sister, Gwen Keiscome.
