Hansgeorg (Georg) Kraus, 83, of Boerne passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 with his family by his side.
Georg was born on June 1, 1937, in Doberlug, Germany and moved to Texas in 1957. He returned to Germany in 1959 during the Berlin crisis. In 1962 he married Barbara and returned to Texas. They were married for 58 years and together they had a son and daughter.
Georg was a happy spirited soul and loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, bowling, making homemade sausage, playing accordion, and listening and dancing to German and Czech music. He was a member of the American Legion Honor Guard.
Georg is survived by his wife, Barbara; his brother, Axel and his wife Barbel of Germany; his son, Ruediger and his wife Danielle of Carlsbad, New Mexico; his daughter Heidi and her husband Jerome Majek of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Karl Kraus (Tiffany), Krysta Majek, Kathrin Smith (Travis), Lauren Smith (Kendall), and Melanie Majek; and his great-grandson, Liam Kraus.
Georg was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Kathe Kraus.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the VA Outpatient Hospital and St. Peters Hospice.
