After an extended battle with cancer Hallie Martin Higgins passed away in the comfort of his home on March 30, 2019. Leading up to his death Hallie was surrounded by family and friends.
Hallie was born February 8, 1939 to George and Marie Higgins in Kimberly, ID. He grew up with five sisters and one brother. From a very young age Hallie worked alongside his father in the family sawdust business. As a young man he drove a farm truck and this is how he met the love of his life, Margie (Brown). Hallie and Margie married on December 16, 1961.
In 1962 Hallie joined the Boise Fire Department. In his 28 years as a fireman, Hallie not only served the community but made many lifelong friends. After retiring from the Boise Fire Department, Hallie had many side jobs including driving truck for Idaho Sand and Gravel and Empire Transport.
Hallie always enjoyed automobiles and over the years built an extensive collection of old cars and trucks. He spent countless hours fiddling with his collection. Hallie passed this love of cars onto his children and grandchildren. Many friends were made through his love of cars and his time spent at the drag races with his children and grandchildren.
Over the years Hallie enjoyed many different things including hunting, camping and snowmobiling. Hallie’s home away from home was a beautiful log cabin that he and the family built from the ground up. He loved to spend time there, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery. Time spent there with family is something that we all will remember and treasure.
Hallie is survived by his wife Margie, his sisters Bethy Tews and Inez Wise, his children Jeff (Melanie) Higgins, James (Jennifer) Higgins, and Kathy (Dean) Hamann, his grandchildren Brandon (Tylar), Kevin (Kali), John (Diana), Andrea (Cody), Heather, Daniel and Amanda.
