Hagop (Jack) Minassian

Troy – Hagop (Jack) Minassian passed away on January 12, 2010 at Ellis Hospital after a courageous five year battle with a debilitating illness. Born in Aleppo, Syria on May 22, 1924, he was the son of the late Nercess and Ovsanna Minassian. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Anahid Minassian and three wonderful children, Nercess (Lori) Minassian, Ayda (Greg) Karian and Sarkis (Betty) Minassian. He was the loving grandfather of Kristi, Bedig, Sonya, Tamar, Hagop, Ani, Hagop, and Garo. He was also blessed with a great granddaughter, Talar. He was also survived by his sisters and brothers, Hovaness Minassian of CA, Zarouhi Simonian and Albert Minassian both of Sydney, Australia and Arpine Kokshanian of CA. He was predeceased by a brother, George Minassian.

Before his arrival to America, Hagop was a successful landowner and businessman. In his quest for religious and political freedom, he immigrated to the United States in 1972 where he worked for Al Tech Specialty Steel Corporation, retiring after 16 years. He served many years as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Holy Cross Armenian Church. We will remember him singing his favorite songs to his grandchildren and great grandchild and his generous nature. These precious memories will keep him close in our hearts.
