July 5, 1933 – March 11, 2018
Mystic – Gweneth E. (Banta) Chattin, 84, resident of Apple Rehab Mystic, CT passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018.
Gwen was predeceased by her parents Victor and Maxine Banta of Hackensack, NJ, and her son Kurt Grunwald of Griswold, CT (a bright spark whom she dearly missed), and previous husband Rudolph Grunwald of Mystic, CT.
Self-educated and a killer Trivial Pursuit player, Gwen enjoyed gardening, nature, her charming home at “The Pond”, books, animals, the arts, and rode her own motorcycle when she lived in Washington State. In her younger days she had many friends but became rather reclusive in her later years as scoliosis took its toll.
She is survived by her daughter Victoria Hunt and son-in-law David Hunt of Mechanicsburg, PA, daughter Paula Fowler, granddaughters Alyson Fowler of Mystic, CT, and Anne Fowler of NYC, daughter-in-law Jan Grunwald and granddaughter Megan Grunwald of Griswold, CT, longtime friends Millie Goodman and Fran Harkins of Mystic, CT, and many others who remember her fondly.
