Gwen Ullrey, 83, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2006, in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend.
She was born on June 8, 1922, in Fredricton, Canada, to the late Theodore and Lena Burke.
On June 11, 1949, as Gwen Burke, she married Carl I. Ullrey who preceded her in death on April 9, 2000.
Mrs. Ullrey is survived by her children, Ellen Krzyzanski of St. Petersburg, Florida, Marcia L. Ullrey of South Bend and Dr. Rebecca (Jerome) Moskwinski of Granger and Carl E. Ullrey of South Bend; eight grandchildren, Kevin and Kyle Krzyzanski, and Bridget, Lindsay, Nicholas, Teddy, Kelsey and Molly Moskwinski; 3 great grandchildren, Katie and Austin Krzyzanski and Krysta Krzyzanski, all of Florida; two sisters, Doris Howard of New York and Eleanor Bombard of Missouri; by a brother, Lawrence Burke of Portland, Maine and by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her husband and parents, Gwen was preceded in death by a son, John Ullrey in March 1950 and also by 12 siblings.
Mrs. Ullrey was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, South Bend, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and she was also a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Association.
