Guy Frederick “Fred” Grooms died at age 61 in Boise, Idaho at the Idaho State Veterans Care Center on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from Multiple Sclerosis related complications. Fred was born July 28, 1949 in Nampa, Idaho and was adopted by his loving parents Donald and Charlotte Grooms. He attended schools in Ogden, Utah and Boise, Idaho. Fred met the love of his life Sandra Lee Grover when she was in the market for a VW Bug and he had the perfect one for sale. They were married on October 19, 1974 and were later sealed for eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Fred served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War for two years. He worked as an engineer at the Bureau of Reclamation, and for 13 years was on the dive team.

Fred is survived by his wife Sandra Lee Grover Grooms, daughters Bonnie and her husband Jared Fife, Rebecca Tegen and son in law Daniel Tegen, Hillary and her husband Jared Waters, Whitney and her husband Ken Weekes, grandchildren Emma, Adelaide, Grace, Magnolia, Oliver Fife, Valerie and Jackson Waters, father Donald Grooms, and mother in law Mary Bonnie Lee Kelley Grover. He was preceded by his mother Charlotte Grooms and father-in-law Howard Grover.
