Augusta Louise Moore Block-Landes, 78, of Pipe Creek, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.
Gussie was born on September 17, 1940 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina Louise Blue Moore and Arthur Elmon Moore, Gussie’s laughter was her best known trait. No matter the situation, she was always a positive and cheerful person. Growing up, Gussie always knew she wanted to be a nurse. She went to school for nursing in North Carolina. She spent her nursing career mostly in the San Antonio area. Her caring heart and hard working spirit brought her joy and success in her chosen field. After marrying Edward Block and moving to the Pipe Creek area, Gussie retired to travel with her husband. They traveled all over the United States and to Europe. Gussie nursed Ed through Alzheimer’s Disease, and she lost him in 2003. Gussie became close to Carl Landes in that same year, after he lost his wife of many years. The two of them lived on the same street, and finding that sharing meals and movies at home together was preferable to grieving their losses alone. In the fall of 2004 Carl and Gussie were united in marriage. They brought much laughter and joy to each others lives. In December of 2017, Gussie lost Carl. She is now with him and their beloved German Shepard, Apache.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Anderson, sons and daughters, Tim and Dianna Landes, Artie and Donella Anderson, and Carl Landes Jr.; grandchildren, Hannah Lucas, Tim Landes Jr., Dane and Heather Stratton, Jenna Moore, Adrienne Moore, and Jacob Landes, as well as many great-grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. Gussie is preceded in death by her mother Louise Blue Moore, her father, Arthur Elmon Moore, her sister Jane, and her husbands, Edward Block and Carl Landes.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Morningside Ministries in Boerne, Bandera Nursing and Rehab, and the staff at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, for the loving care they provided Gussie and our family.
