Gus V. Flerry was born on August 3, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, to Oliver S. Flerry and Junetta E. Brown. He was the last of four children born to this union. Gus was a graduate of Manual high School in Denver Colorado and a college graduate of the Community College of Denver. Shortly after high school, Gus was introduced to Joyce M. Langford while in Wichita Kansas. They later moved to Denver Colorado, where they were joined in holy matrimony on December 15, 1959, and to this union four children were born.
