Gus E. Bubenzer, 87, Anderson, passed away April 19, 2011 at Community Hospital, Anderson.
He was born October 7, 1923 in Rome, Indiana, and resided in Anderson since 1946. Gus served his country in the US Army/Air Force during WWII receiving a Purple Heart, 3 Oak Clusters, EAME Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and two Bronze Stars. Gus was married to LaVera for 68 years, being a very devoted husband and caregiver. He retired in 1982 from Delco Remy Division of General Motors. He was a member of Madison Park Church of God and the UAAW #662. Gus enjoyed square dancing, camping, gardening, woodworking and was an excellent mechanic.
He is survived by his son, Guane Bubenzer Tara of Anderson; four grandchildren, Kimberly Walker, Mike Bubenzer, Joy Bubenzer and Kevin Bubenzer; four great grandchildren, Christian Walker, Quinn Walker, Cole Bubenzer and Grant Bubenzer; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gus E. & Ethel Wedding Bubenzer; wife, LaVera J. Bubenzer on August 5, 2010; grandson, Shawn Bubenzer; siblings, Ernest Bubenzer, Mary Agnes Skinner, Irene Walters, Ruth Lackey and Ailene Sierbert.
