Guadalupe Alvarado “Lupe”, 98, formerly of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. His wife, Donna Rae Baker, preceded him in death on January 27, 1998. Lupe is survived by two daughters, Tina (Jim) Harter of Wakarusa, IN, and Victoria (Merlin) Swartzentruber of Goshen, IN, and one son, Nicholas “Nico” (Tammy) Alvarado of New Carlisle, IN, eight grandchildren, Amy, Sarah, Jason, Jordan, Alex, Nick, Addison, Phoebe, and seven great-grandchildren.
Lupe’s life was defined by the people and things he loved. He was an avid baseball fan, and coached Little League baseball in Hudson Lake for many years. He loved the Chicago Cubs and the White Sox, and could often be found in his favorite recliner taking in a game.
Lupe was a talented gardener who found great joy in caring for his many varieties of vegetables. He always had more than enough produce to share with family, friends and the community.
More than anything, Lupe loved the Lord Jesus and used any opportunity to share his faith with others. His faith shaped the love he had for people, especially his family. He will be remembered as someone who exemplified unconditional love, patience, kindness, generosity and joy.
