Greta Alida Sinskey, nee Lucas, went into the arms of Jesus at her home surrounded by her family on December 29, 2013, after a long battle with a rare auto-immune disease which affected her bones and muscles. Greta participated in many activities and loved life. She was very involved with her daughters’ lives. She was a scout leader, coach and played volleyball for years.

She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, involved in marriage encounters and cooking and serving food for funerals. She was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and O’Fallon Homemakers. She loved to play cards and belonged to many card and hat groups. She loved to sew and make quilts for the church auctions. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes with her friends. Greta was born on November 10, 1938, in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Johanna (Broeders) Lucas, nine brothers: Marvin, Kenneth, Sidney , John, Sam, Clark, James, Harry and Robert. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Jerry, whom she married on February 29, 1964 in Clayton, Missouri; three daughters, Madonna (Michael) Harris of Smithton, IL, Joanna (Dean) Brown of Clarksville, TN, and Jerilyn of O’Fallon, IL.; five grandchildren Amber (Keith) Hardy, Aubrey Harris, Austin Brown, Autumn Brown, and Ryan Ritchie; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, wonderful friends and neighbors.
