Gregory John Zann III, DDS, 61, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Dr. Zann was born in New York City, NY on May 13, 1949 and spent the majority of his youth in Toledo, OH, where he attended The Ladyfield Catholic School (1963) and Saint Francis De Sales High School (1967). At St. Francis he was Vice President of his senior class, a three sport varsity letter winner in swimming, football, and tennis, and a Hall of Fame inductee (1998). Dr. Zann went on to attend the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, MI for undergraduate education (B.S. Philosophy – 1971) as well as dental school (D.D.S. – 1974) and periodontal residency (M.S. – 1978). While an undergraduate, he was a scholarship member of the varsity men’s swimming team and an honor student. Upon completing his periodontal training, Dr. Zann and his wife Janet moved to South Florida where he has been a practicing periodontist since 1978. Dr. Zann was deeply devoted to his faith, family, friends, and patients. As an expert clinician and surgeon, he gave his all to others and to his community. He was an avid reader, golfer, swimmer, and amateur satirist. He was a frequent medical volunteer to remote parts of Peru, Haiti, and El Salvador.
