Mr. Gregory Dean Williams, 65, of Bristol, passed away quietly on Thursday, June 16, 2022 while staying at the home of some family in Elkhart. He had been in ill health. Born in Elkhart on October 22, 1956, Greg was the son of Marlin Williams and Juanita (Viars) Leer.
Surviving Greg are his daughters Natasha, Tiffany, Megan and Carletta; his brothers James Penninger of Ocala, FL and Nathan O. Tacy of Elkhart; sister Nancy Eutsey and a bunch of grandchildren, extended family and good friends. Along with his parents, Greg is preceded in death by a sister, Carletta Tacy, and a brother, Tommy Leer.
Greg grew up in the home building business and went on to work with his hands most of his life. He had become quite an accomplished machinist, tool and die maker and carpenter; working many years at local places like Jessen and Patriot Homes. He also, for a while, was assigned to building engine housing pods for several of the earlier Space Shuttles (Orbiters) including the Challenger.
When he wasn’t at work, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and bicycles, playing guitar and writing songs, and drawing pictures of people he knew, as he was an exceptional artist. He was also very spiritual and spent many hours reading his bible and contemplating the mysteries of life. No matter what the answer to those mysteries would be, Greg lived his life to the fullest and always tended to participate rather than spectate.
