Gregory Eric Mong, 36, passed away on December 3, 2017 at St. Luke’s in Boise, Idaho.
Greg came into the world at 5:28 am on January 26, 1981 in Rupert, ldaho. Greg grew up in Rupert and attended Acequia Elementary, East Minico, and Minico High School. During junior high and high school he played football as an offensive guard.
Greg loved to garden and grow things. He always ordered hot pepper seeds and couldn’t wait to start planting. In the fall, he would grind up the pepper seeds into a very hot seasoning and would give them to his friends.
Greg was a very hard worker and gave his all in everything that he did. Greg was an excellent cook. When he worked at the Minidoka hospital he started out mopping floors and worked his way up to head cook. Greg would cater many events and was known for his cooking abilities. Greg worked at Golden Corral for several years and made many good friends there.
Greg loved his 3 children with all of his heart. He treasured the time that he had with them, but it hurt him deeply to not be able to see them.
Greg is survived by his children Ashlyn (9), Colby (7), and Kyla (4) all of Twin Falls. His parents; Les and Debbie Mong of Rupert; sisters Kristi Lee of Ft. Lewis, WA and Kimberly Mong of Rupert; Nephews; Nathan Mong of Rupert and Micah Lee of Ft. Lewis, WA; He is also survived by 2 aunts, 5 uncles, and many cousins, and close friends Barry and Cindy Steen of Twin Falls.
Greg is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Burdett and Eileen Mong; his maternal grandparents; James and Elvina Gittins all of Rupert and three uncles.
The family would like to thank St. Luke’s in Boise for their excellent care of Greg while he was in the ICU there.
