On April 10, 2021, we lost a truly valuable member of the community as our dear son passed away. Gregory Alan Witkowski was a light in the world for all who knew him.
He is now with the Lord, his grandparents and his uncle, Raymond Witkowski. We look forward to hugging him once we pass on as well.
Gregory was born on February 9, 1988 in Wilmington, DE.
He is survived by his father, Gregory J. Witkowski and his stepmother, Margaret Anechiarico, both of Orange Park, FL; his mother, Lisa B. Willson and his stepfather, Greg Willson, of Palatka, FL; in addition to his loving siblings, Sarah M. Witkowski of Orange Park and his brother, Toby T. Witkowski and his wife, Kayla Witkowski, of St. Petersburg, FL.
In December of 1989, Gregory moved with his family to Orange Park due to his father getting transferred by his job. Gregory’s formative years as well as the rest of his life were in the Orange Park area.
As a child, Gregory was active in the Orange Park Royal Rangers Assembly of God, attended Orange Park Elementary School and was an excellent athlete, enjoying both soccer and flag football, as well as any other sports he took up.
As he grew up, he developed lifelong friendships as he was someone who people gravitated to, due to his loving and outgoing personality.
Teachers, friends, and anyone who crossed his path knew Gregory was passionate about his favorite NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he wore that love for his team in his heart without regret and with honor.
After Shogun closed, he was hired to serve at Juicy Crabs Restaurant in Jacksonville as a bartender and a server and was considered top of the line there as well.
His family, friends and clientele knew him for his kindness, his sense of humor and his passionate commentaries about his Pittsburgh Steelers as well as his Pittsburgh Penguins, in addition to him being able to comment on opposing teams in a manner that was respectful yet showed his love for his teams.
One might say, Gregory was the #1 Steelers fan in the nation and the #1 Penguins fan as well. Arguing those points would be fruitless, as he was.
His chants of “Let’s Go Steelers, Let’s Go!” will forever ring in our ears for all eternity.
John 11:25-26: “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live even though they die and all those who believe in me will never die.”
Gregory may not be on this planet anymore, but he is alive and in God’s hands.
