Gregory A. Pickens, 55, of Jacksonville, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at his residence. He was born March 11, 1956, in Chicago, the son of Florence Pickens Gibbs.
He is survived by two daughters, Keisha and Marissa McWhorter, both of White Hall; two brothers, Glenn (Retta) Pickens and Michael (Shelia) Pickens, and two nephews, Zach and Noah Pickens, all of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his mother; and his foster parents who raised him after his mother’s death, William and Marcella Powers.
Mr. Pickens was a 1975 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked many years at Hertzberg New Method. Greg was an avid sports and Chicago Bears fan, and enjoyed playing video games. He loved his family, and especially loved his girls.
