Gregory A. Micucci of Burlington died Monday January 26, 2015 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia at the age of 64. Born in Mt. Holly, Greg was raised in Beverly. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School, Class of 1968, LaSalle College, Class of 1973 and American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science, Class of 1977.
Greg was a member of the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. He was a licensed funeral director in New Jersey since 1978 and New York since 1982. Greg began his career in funeral service in Garfield and Wyckoff, NJ. He also worked as a funeral director in New York City and ran the medical examiner’s office in Jersey City and Bayonne. In addition he worked for the anatomical donation department of UMDNJ for many years, transporting donors statewide. He lived in Garfield and Jersey City until moving to Burlington in 1984.
In 1984 he began working as a funeral director and then manager of the Sweeney Funeral Home in Riverside until forced into retirement in 2003. Greg was a parishioner of the St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Burlington. He was a former secretary-treasurer, vice-president and president of the Burlington County Funeral Directors Association. Son of the late Albert and Marie Micucci, Greg is survived by his wife of 41 years Veronica (Vera), son Eric of Burlington, daughters Alicia (Charles) Lyding of Washington Boro and Kelly (Brad) Smith of Delran, granddaughter Serena Lyding, and dear friends Jay and Kim Beaumont and David and Meredee Parsons, who he thought of more like brothers and sisters than friends.
He is also survived by his sister and other relatives as well as many friends.
