Captain Grady Byron Stone, Sr., 89, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 surrounded by his family at his home in Peachtree City. He was born April 14, 1923 in Arab, AL to the late Paul Grady Stone & Elma Boyd Stone. Mr. Stone joined the Navy in November 1944 and was designated a Naval Aviator the same year. He was recalled to Active duty for the Korean War and retired from Naval service in 1966. Captain Stone was a pilot with Eastern Airlines from 1956-1983, where he retired as DC-9 Captain. In 1972, he was awarded the Scroll of Merit by the International Federation of Airline Pilots for honorable distinctive service. Survivors include wife of nearly 60 years, Martha Strickland Stone; daughters, Linda Stone Graham, Teresa Stone Love; sons, Grady Byron Stone, Jr., Thomas Frederick Stone; and grandchildren, Stephen Love, Andrew Love, and Amanda Graham.
