Mrs. Stewart was born on April 29, 1926 in Athens, Alabama to the late Bebee Yarbrough and Rossie Pitts. She departed this life on December 19, 2016 at Decatur Morgan Hospital-Decatur General Campus.

At the age of eleven she moved to Harrison, TN with her dad due to his job. She attended school in Roan Oak, TN. She later moved with her mother and attended Decatur Negro High School. After graduation she attended Morristown College outside of Knoxville, TN for two years.

Early in 1949 she met the love of her life, William H. Stewart, at a friend’s dinner and was married on July 24, 1949. There were no children born in this marriage. She traveled with her husband, who was in the Army, and lived in Germany and France.

Mrs. Stewart was a very active person, kind and loving. She has been a Foster Grandparent with Morgan County Community Action for West Decatur Elementary and Ben Davis Elementary Schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one sister, Ardie Gipson and one nephew Ronald Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a brother, Mason (Erma) Yarbrough of Waco, TX; two nieces, Barbara (Theadias) Longmire; of Athens, Al and Willa (Louis) Cooper of Huntsville, AL; two nephews, Thomas (Sharon) Johnson Jr. of St. Louis. MO and Adrian Yarbrough of Waco, TXl; three great nieces, Adrian Diane Yarbrough, Tonia Sanders and LaRonda Dabney; one great-nephew, Robert Dabney and a host of other relatives and close friends.
