Gracie Mae Johnson, 72, of Jacksonville, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.

She was born May 28, 1941, in Clarksdale, MS, the daughter of Adam Roy and Mae Ola Jefferson Johnson.

She is survived by three daughters and four sons, Ola Mae Hammers of Springfield, Patricia Miller-Buckner of Chicago, Kevin Miller of Dwight, Carolyn (husband, Broderick) Bell-Daniels of Jacksonville, Isiah Bell II of Pontiac, Monte Bell of Jacksonville and Derrick Bell of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Jeremy (wife, Melissa) Bell, Michael Hammers and Carlonda Bell, all of Jacksonville, and Martin Hammers Jr., Carrie Jackson, Demond Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Isiah Bell and Miranda Bell, all of Springfield; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Lovie Phillips of Ruleville, MS; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends; and her special caregivers, Amanda, Kim, Terrika and Mary.

Miss Johnson had worked for many years at Black Giant Grocery Store in Chicago. In the last days of her life, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She loved people, and was very humorous. She especially loved her grandchildren.
