Gracie Katherine (Earwood) Strohl, 75, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 4, 2021.

Gracie was born July 9, 1945 in Arab, Alabama. She was the 9th of eleven children of Hugh and Myrtle (Green) Earwood.

She grew up in Alabama and Florida and moved with her family to Shelbyville, Illinois in her teen years where she met the love of her life and later married Larry, her high school sweetheart.  Together, they built a strong family rich in love, faith, wit and laughter. Gracie and Larry were married for 42 years before his passing in 2004.

In her early years, Gracie worked at Oliver in Shelbyville, Illinois as an administrative secretary. She dedicated the latter part of her career to children working for the Vigo County School Corporation as a teaching assistant at Meadows and Dixie Bee Elementary. Gracie was an active volunteer for Kids Hope and Miss Softball America for many years.

Gracie was a doting mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was happiest when surrounded by people and doing for others. Legendary for her infectious laugh, southern cooking and folksy sayings, Gracie never met a stranger.

She is survived by her daughters: Dana Bennett, (Tim Bennett), Stephanie Strohl, (Richard Mix), Amanda Green (Mel Green): grandchildren, Derrick Bennett, Jessyca Mix, Lenora Green: Great grandchild: Liam Givens

She was preceded in death by her husband Larry E. Strohl, parents Hugh and Myrtle Earwood, in-laws, Lawrence and Phyllis Strohl, brothers: Jack Earwood, Hugo Earwood, Windham Earwood, and sisters: Emma Nola Earwood, Marian Minor and Judy Gibbs Kelly.
